25 TEXANS IN THE LAND OF LINCOLN
2019 | Documentary FIlm

Twenty-five history students from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas, embark on a 2,000-mile journey to Springfield, Illinois. Their mission is twofold: to construct a Day of the Dead altar honoring President Abraham Lincoln's support of Mexico and to petition the Illinois State Military Museum for the repatriation of General Antonio López de Santa Anna's prosthetic leg to Mexico. Through this expedition, the predominantly Mexican American group delves into themes of identity, national borders, museum ethics, and collective memory, all while shedding light on the often-overlooked U.S.-Mexican War.
